Fire
Grant Korgan¹s childhood dream, the same dream he held on to as he lay in an open expanse of snow on a cold March morning in 2010 is to be a helicopter pilot. On this day, however, as a chopper pounded drumbeats into the steely grey sky above him, he¹d find himself not at the controls, but on a backboard, being strapped to the floor. The man known as Korg had just soared 162 feet through thin Sierra air on a snow machine. That glorious, familiar, and polarizing flight, was two feet further than he¹d planned...
For Korg, the flat landing that resulted from those two extra feet spelled the difference between an often-everyday experience of pura vida with friends, and gazing into a monotone pain gripped sky, with no sensations from his bellybutton south. His first Lumbar vertebrae had disintegrated completely and in that moment, he was a only a few hours away from hearing he¹d never walk again...
In that space of change, and the reality of what could have been darkness for anyone else, Grant Korgan stayed true to himself, he chose light... he chose FIRE!
